Struggling Magic pay a visit to Clippers

Dec 12, 2010 - 4:02 PM (Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic are in the midst of a season-high four- game losing streak and look to get back on track tonight against a team they have dominated in the past, the Los Angeles Clippers.

Orlando, which is 0-2 on a four-game road swing, has won seven in a row against the Clippers and three straight as the visitor in this series.

The Magic suffered a 117-105 loss in Utah on Friday, as Jameer Nelson led six Orlando players in double figures with 19 points and 10 assists. Dwight Howard had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Orlando, which had won six straight before falling into a funk and is winless in its past three road bouts.

"They did a good job on Dwight, they did a very good job on blocking shots on him and getting turnovers," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "That's a double edge sword as a coach you're looking at your team, clearly their defense got better. But we didn't play very well."

Van Gundy's squad hasn't lost five straight since the 2006-07 season and will close out the trek in Denver on Tuesday. Orlando is 6-5 away from central Florida this season and went 25-16 on the road in 2009-10, the third-best road record in team history.

Los Angeles has dropped two in a row and will wrap up a four-game homestand this evening from Staples Center.

In an 84-83 loss to Memphis last night -- the Clippers' second straight one- point setback after an 87-86 defeat at the hands of the Lakers on Wednesday -- Baron Davis had a chance to give LA the win, but his jumper was off the mark and Grizzlies center Marc Gasol knocked away the rebound before the buzzer.

Rookie Blake Griffin ended with 19 points and 11 boards for Los Angeles, which has lost six of eight games and got 25 points from Eric Gordon. Gordon scored at least 20 points for the 11th consecutive game.

"We're trying to make the home run play at lot of times instead of making the easy play," Griffin said postgame.

DeAndre Jordan continued to fill in for injured center Chris Kaman (ankle) and had his first double-double of the season in defeat with 10 points and a season-high 14 rebounds.

The Clippers, 0-4 in games decided by three points or less this season, held a 43-31 advantage on the glass and shot 45.8 percent from the floor. But they also committed a season-worst 26 turnovers.

After Sunday's bout with Orlando, the Clippers will hit the road for three games at Philadelphia, Detroit and Chicago. LA guard Randy Foye (hamstring) is questionable versus the Magic.
