Hawks visit The Palace to take on Pistons
Dec 14, 2010 - 4:00 PM (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks will begin a short road trip tonight against the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The Hawks will also visit Boston and are 8-4 away from Philips Arena this season. They have won three of four and eight of their last 10 games, including Saturday's 97-83 victory at home over Indiana.
Al Horford contributed 16 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists, while Jamal Crawford provided 25 points off the bench. Josh Smith chipped in 21 points and seven boards in the win.
"We were both a little bit tired," said Horford of playing on back-to-back nights. "We really had to grind it out as a team."
Crawford is averaging 24.7 points over his last three games.
Detroit will resume a four-game homestand Tuesday and hope to put the brakes on a four-game losing tonight.
In a 120-116 loss to Toronto in the opener of the residency, Ben Wallace netted a career-high 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Rodney Stuckey scored 23 points and matched a career high with 12 assists.
"You look at the stats sheet and guys have season highs for points, rebounds, records for assists, and the other team ends up shooting 63, 64 percent and come back and winning the game," said Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince, who had 12 points. "It's heartbreaking, but like I said, I can't explain it."
The Pistons will also host the Clippers and Hornets at The Palace.
Atlanta defeated the Pistons, 94-85, on Nov. 3 this season in Dixie and has won six of the last eight meetings. The Hawks, however, have dropped two straight and nine of 10 visits to the Motor City.
