Wolves resume trek in Golden State

Dec 14, 2010 - 4:31 PM (Sports Network) - A bolstered Minnesota Timberwolves club resumes a lengthy six-game road trip in Oakland tonight against the reeling Golden State Warriors.

The Wolves lost the opener of their trek in Chicago on Sunday when Derrick Rose scored 21 points, Luol Deng had 19 and the streaking Bulls led by as many as 34 on the way to a 113-82 rout of Minnesota. The Timberwolves fell to a miserable 1-12 on the road this season and lost for the ninth time in their last 11 games overall.

Kevin Love recorded his usual double-double for the Wolves with 23 points and 15 rebounds -- both game-highs -- and Michael Beasley added 16 points.

Minnesota's final lead was 4-2 early in the first quarter. Rose helped the Bulls take control, scoring eight points in the frame, including a jumper that capped a 12-4 run and give them an 11-point advantage.

It was still early, but Timberwolves guard Luke Ridnour knew it would be tough for his team to play from behind on the road.

"That's the one thing you don't want to do," Ridnour said. "We got buried early and we tried to fight back but they played a good game and we didn't come out with the energy we needed. That's on us as players."

Minnesota is expecting a boost tonight when second year point guard Jonny Flynn and forward Martell Webster are expected to make their season debuts. Flynn, who is working his way back from July hip surgery, played two games in the NBDL to get ready, while Webster, who was acquired from Portland in June, is set to return after back surgery during training camp.

The Wolves will finish their trip with visits to Phoenix, Portland, Denver and the LA Clippers.

The struggling Warriors, meanwhile, dropped their seventh straight game in Utah on Monday when Deron Williams poured in 30 points to go with 10 assists and six rebounds, as the Jazz pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 108-95 victory.

Dorell Wright paced the Warriors with 20 points, David Lee added 18 points and 12 rebounds and Monta Ellis netted 19 in the team's 12th setback in 13 games.

"We did a lot of positive things. We have to put this one behind us and move forward," Ellis said.

Golden State guard Stephen Curry missed his second straight game with an ankle problem and remains doubtful for tonight.

The Warriors have won four straight games in the series, including a 104-94 triumph in the Twin Cities back on Nov. 27.
