Rockets, Thunder tangle in Okie City

Dec 15, 2010 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - Coming off the largest home win in Thunder history, Oklahoma City will continue a four-game residency when it entertains the Houston Rockets Wednesday night.

The Thunder have won three in a row overall and as the host, and opened the homestand with a 106-77 victory versus the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Kevin Durant had 25 points, Jeff Green and James Harden added 19 points apiece and Russell Westbrook scored 14 with a game-high 11 assists for Oklahoma City, which held Cleveland to just 32 second half points.

The 29-point margin of victory is the largest home win in Thunder history.

"It felt good to get some rest," Durant said of the blowout. "We work so hard and we were rewarded tonight."

Oklahoma City outscored the Cavaliers in the paint by a 56-28 margin and had a 29-11 advantage on the fast break. The win gave the Thunder a 12-4 record over their last 16 games. The Durant-Westbrook tandem is currently the highest scoring duo in the league, averaging 50.9 points per game.

The Thunder will also host Sacramento and Phoenix, and own an 8-4 record at home this season.

Houston has won two straight, three of four and five of its last seven games, and is coming off Tuesday's 118-105 triumph versus the Sacramento Kings. Luis Scola finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Chase Budinger contributed 18 points for the Rockets, who have won six straight home games.

"I missed a lot of easy shots in the first half; I was feeling frustrated," Scola said afterwards. "I was able to play the way I feel more comfortable (in the second half)."

Scola has now reached double-figure scoring in a career-best 20 consecutive games, surpassing his previous high of 18 straight contests set last year. The Rockets have lost two in a row on the road and are just 3-10 outside of the Toyota Center this season.

Kevin Martin had 14 points just one game after pumping in a season-high 40 in a win over Cleveland on Saturday. In other team news, the Rockets are reportedly set to acquire swingman Terrence Williams from New Jersey as part of a three-team deal with the LA Lakers. Williams was a first-round pick of the Nets back in 2009.

The 2010-11 season series between Houston and Oklahoma City is tied at a game apiece, with each team holding serve so far as the host. The Rockets have won 14 of the previous 16 contests in this series.
