Bucks conclude Texas trip at the Spurs
Dec 15, 2010 - 4:07 PM (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Bucks hope to build on their biggest win of the year by capturing an even bigger one against a San Antonio Spurs team aiming to finish off a six-game homestand in perfect fashion tonight at AT&T Center. The Bucks opened a quick two-game Texas trip by halting the Dallas Mavericks' 12-game winning streak on Monday. Brandon Jennings filled the box score in that one with 23 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, as Milwaukee erased a huge deficit and earned a 103-99 decision over the Mavs.
Andrew Bogut totaled 21 points and 14 rebounds for a Bucks team that used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to clinch a game they once trailed by 20.
"We were searching for a lineup that could get something going for us," Bucks head coach Scott Skiles said. "We started a different lineup in the third quarter and those guys got us going. We battled back ... It was a gutsy win, we played really hard tonight."
Reserves Keyon Dooling, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Ersan Ilyasova combined for 42 points in the win, Milwaukee's third straight.
"They kicked our [butts]. I don't know any simpler way to say it," Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said. "Credit Milwaukee -- they took the game away from us. I'm not going to say we gave it away or anything like that; they took it."
The Spurs, meanwhile, kept chugging along in their last encounter, taking an easy 95-78 win over Portland. George Hill scored a season-high 22 points and Manu Ginobili finished with 18 in that one.
Tony Parker netted 14 points, while Tim Duncan chipped in eight points and 13 rebounds for San Antonio, which has won five straight and 19 of its last 21 games.
The Spurs, at 20-3 this season, hold the best record in the NBA. They forced 14 turnovers and held the Trail Blazers to just 38 percent shooting.
"Today was a good performance defensively," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "That's something to enjoy, but we have a ways to go."
San Antonio, which is 12-2 overall in the Alamo City, has won two straight over the Bucks.
