Warriors and Blazers clash at the Rose Garden

Dec 18, 2010 - 3:51 PM (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors hope to build on their first win in December when they visit the Rose Garden to face the homestanding Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors halted a seven-game skid on Tuesday when Monta Ellis scored 34 points to help Golden State snap out of their funk with a 108-99 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reggie Williams added 26 points for the Warriors, who had lost their last seven games and had not won since Nov. 27, also against Minnesota. Dorrell Wright provided 12 points, while David Lee had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Despite being without All-Star swingman Brandon Roy for a second straight contest Portland was also able to get healthy against the lowly Wolves, snapping a three-game skid in the opener of a three-game residency on Friday. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 36 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in that one, leading the Trail Blazers to a 107-102 victory.

Rudy Fernandez added 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting for the Blazers, who beat the Wolves for the 13th consecutive time. Wesley Matthews contributed with 21 points in the victory.

"My teammates found me when I was open, and I made some easy shots tonight," Aldridge said. "More than that, Rudy played great for us ... I think tonight was a good effort."

Roy will remain sidelined again tonight and is expected to miss at least another week with a balky left knee. Meanwhile, there is a small chance Golden State guard Stephen Curry, who has missed three consecutive games with a sprained right ankle, could return.

"We are going to go by as if he's not playing," Warriors coach Keith Smart earlier in the week. "It will be a bonus if he is there."

Golden State snapped a two-game skid to Portland with a win at the Rose Garden lat April. The Blazers, however, have won four straight at home and will be aiming for their first five-game run on their home floor since a six-game spurt from March 3-31 of last season.
