Raptors host Pistons at ACC

Dec 22, 2010 - 4:31 PM (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors will shoot for their sixth straight win over the Detroit Pistons when the two clubs collide tonight at Air Canada Centre.

The Raptors made it five wins in a row against the Pistons with a recent 120-116 victory on Dec. 11 at The Palace behind Jerryd Bayless' go-ahead three-pointer with 1:21 left in the game. Bayless matched a career high with 31 points for the Raptors, who battled back from a 25-point deficit and have won the last two at home in this series.

Toronto has lost seven of nine games overall and will wrap up a three-game homestand Wednesday. It fell to 1-1 on the residency after dropping a 120-110 decision to the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Linas Kleiza led all scorers with 26 points to go with 10 rebounds for Toronto, which was coming off Friday's win over New Jersey and fell to 7-8 in Canada.

"I thought our guys played really hard and I think for the most part, they played really well, and I think we'd beat a lot of teams today, but not these guys," Raptors head coach Jay Triano said.

DeMar DeRozan added 23 points, while Jose Calderon posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 assists in defeat. Calderon had missed the previous four games with a sore left foot and has posted consecutive double-doubles since returning. Andrea Bargnani has missed two of the last three games with a sore right ankle and listed as day-to-day. Sonny Weems (back) missed his second straight game Sunday and is day-to-day as well.

The Pistons have lost eight in a row as the guest and are 2-12 away from The Palace of Auburn Hills this season. Their last win as the visitor was a 100-94 victory at Sacramento on Nov. 14.

Detroit has won two of three games overall since a four-game slide and finished a four-game homestand with a 2-2 mark following Sunday's 111-108 overtime victory versus the New Orleans Hornets. Ben Gordon scored 24 of his 25 points in the second half and overtime, and Will Bynum contributed a season-best 21 points and nine assists for the victors.

Bynum also scored the go-ahead layup with 7.4 seconds remaining in OT.

"We did a great job of staying with the course and guys playing within themselves and again sharing the basketball," Pistons head coach John Kuester said. "We had 17 turnovers; that's going to happen in this kind of pace of game. But we did a great job of sharing the ball."

The Pistons had 26 assists and made 53 percent of their shots.

On the injury front, forward Tracy McGrady (groin) and guard Richard Hamilton (virus) are questionable for tonight's game, while Rodney Stuckey (toe) is listed as probable.
