Bulls vie to bounce back in Detroit

Dec 26, 2010 - 4:03 PM (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls hope to put a Christmas Day loss in New York behind them when they close out a three-game road trip tonight against the Central Division-rival Detroit Pistons from The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Chicago dropped a 103-95 decision to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, as Derrick Rose led the losing squad with 25 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and six steals.

Carlos Boozer added 26 points and 19 rebounds in defeat.

"To their credit, I thought they played good defense," Bulls defensive-minded coach Tom Thibodeau said of the Knicks. "I think we have to execute when we are being doubled-teamed. We've got to make plays. We didn't do that tonight."

The Bulls, who committed 21 turnovers at MSG, had a two-game winning streak stopped and lost for only the second time in 11 tries. They are 7-7 away from the United Center this season.

Meanwhile, Detroit has won two straight and three of four games since a four- game losing streak.

The Pistons were last in action Wednesday at Toronto, as Richard Hamilton buried a career-high six three-pointers en route to a season-high 35 points and Rodney Stuckey added 21 points for the Pistons, who won away from The Palace for the first time since November 14 at Sacramento.

"Tonight I just wanted to make a statement," said Hamilton, who came off the bench after 21 straight starts. "With all the stuff talked about and things like that, I just wanted to come out and make a statement."

Ben Wallace helped Detroit end a five-game losing streak to the Raptors with four points and six rebounds. Wallace was playing in his 1,000th game. Charlie Villanueva tallied 18 points and Tracy McGrady provided 17 in a reserve role.

The Pistons had an NBA season-high 41 points off 23 turnovers at Toronto.

In injury news for the Pistons, forward Jason Maxiell (dislocated finger) is listed as questionable for Sunday. The Pistons are 7-7 as the host in 2010-11.

Chicago defeated Detroit, 101-91, back on Oct. 30 this season in the Windy City and has won eight straight and 14 of the previous 17 contests in this series. The Bulls are unbeaten in their last three visits to The Palace.
