Spurs keep shorthanded Wizards winless on road

Dec 27, 2010 - 4:11 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker had a stellar all-around game, finishing with 20 points, 14 assists and six rebounds, as San Antonio dropped the road-weary Wizards, 94-80, at AT&T Center.

Manu Ginobili chipped in 21 points, while George Hill added 11 for the Spurs, who saw their 10-game win streak come to an end at Orlando on Thursday.

"Tony ran the show tonight. He was the guy," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "He and Manu were fantastic; not just scoring, but keeping everyone together, moving the basketball. Manu came in and made those two steals in the end to ice it. They were both very, very good."

The Wizards, the only team in the NBA without a road victory (0-14), played without forwards Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee, who were both suspended for actions detrimental to the team. Rashard Lewis stepped up with 21 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.

Washington rookie guard John Wall returned from a five-game absence (knee) and posted four points on 2-of-9 shooting with four assists and six rebounds in a little over 19 minutes.

"They're the best team in the league for one," Wall said of the Spurs. "They do a great job of penetrating and finding shooters in the baseline as they shot the ball well today. Tony Parker, Ginobili, and everybody on their team came out making shots as it was tough trying to defend them."

Washington was within striking distance in the first half, staying within 27-23 at the end of one quarter while trailing, 48-42, at the break.

The same held true in the third before the Spurs began to pull away midway through the frame. A Hill three-pointer extended the hosts' lead to 69-58 with just over three minutes left, and five different Spurs scored on a quarter- ending 11-3 spurt that yielded an 81-65 cushion.

The closest the Wizards got in the final stanza was nine.
