Hawks aim to end road skid in Milwaukee
Dec 27, 2010 - 4:14 PM (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks will try to stop a five-game road losing streak when they square off with the Milwaukee Bucks tonight from the Bradley Center.Atlanta dropped its fifth consecutive game as the guest with Sunday's 93-86 setback in New Orleans, as Joe Johnson did his best with 23 points and Marvin Williams tallied 18 points for the Hawks, who are 8-8 away from Philips Arena this season.
Josh Smith compiled 10 points and 12 rebounds in defeat. Atlanta guard and Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, who missed the previous five games with a sore back, had 10 points off the bench.
"It was tough tonight, especially because we were in the game in the fourth quarter," Crawford said. "Chris Paul started to take over scoring and getting guys involved and that's where the game separated."
The Hawks had a two-game overall winning streak halted and fell to 4-5 in their last nine games.
Milwaukee aims for its third straight win this evening and made it two in a row with an 84-79 victory in Sacramento on Thursday.
Earl Boykins scored 19 points off the bench and Andrew Bogut finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks for the Bucks, who were coming off a big win at the Lakers and have won two straight since a three-game slide. The Bucks went 2-1 on a three-game road trip.
"My teammates have confidence in me," said Boykins, who's been playing well for injured guard Brandon Jennings. "In the fourth quarter it's a lot easier when you're playing with guys that are willing to give you the ball and allow you to play."
Keyon Dooling had 14 points and five assists in Milwaukee's fifth victory in eight tries. Over his last 10 games, Dooling has handed out 34 assists against three turnovers. Milwaukee converted 25 Sacramento turnovers into 30 points.
In the last two contests the Bucks have scored a total of 61 points off their opponents' turnovers. They have held nine of the last 10 opponents under 100 points, going 6-4 in that stretch. Bogut has recorded a double-double in six of the last 10 games and is averaging team-highs in points (17.3), rebounds (12.0) and blocks (3.1) in that span.
On the injury front for Milwaukee, forwards Drew Gooden (foot) and Corey Maggette (concussion-like symptoms) are both listed as questionable tonight.
Milwaukee is 7-6 at the Bradley Center this season.
The Bucks defeated Atlanta, 108-91, down in Dixie on Nov. 10 this season, but the Hawks have still won six of the previous nine meetings between the two clubs. Atlanta is just 4-18 in its last 22 trips to the Land of Cheese.
