Warriors resume road trip in Charlotte

Dec 31, 2010 - 3:45 PM (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors look to get back on track when they resume a five-game road trip today against the Charlotte Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Golden State had a season-high three-game winning streak come to an end with Wednesday's 103-93 loss at Atlanta in the opener of the excursion. Dorell Wright had a career-high 32 points and added 11 rebounds, while David Lee added 14 points for the Warriors, who were aiming for their first four-game winning streak since the 2007-08 campaign.

"You know how the travel can get you sometimes," Warriors coach Keith Smart said. "We didn't have the necessary energy that was going to be needed and everyone had to be playing a very high level to complete this game. We didn't have that."

Monta Ellis ended with 12 points in a losing cause. He has scored 30 or more points in three of his last five games, and boasts the second-highest field goal percentage (.475) of any guard in the NBA's top 20 in scoring. He trails Heat star Dwyane Wade (.494). Ellis is also one of only five NBA players currently averaging at least 20.0 points and 5.0 assists, joining Derrick Rose, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams.

The Warriors are 4-13 away from Oakland this season and will also visit Miami, Orlando and New Orleans.

Charlotte will try for the franchise's 200th win Friday in the continuation of a five-game homestand and shoot for a season-high third straight win. It is 2-0 so far under new head coach Paul Silas, who took over last week when Larry Brown stepped down from the post.

The Bobcats had lost four straight before winning two in a row and are coming off Wednesday's 101-92 triumph versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. Stephen Jackson scored a Bobcats season-high 38 points and also added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. D.J. Augustin had a season-high 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 5-6 from beyond the three-point line for Charlotte, which is 8-7 at home and will also host Miami on the residency.

"We got a good lead (in the first half) and didn't have to play catch-up basketball," said Jackson, who's averaging 27.0 points in his last three games. "Even though [Cleveland] made runs we found a way to win."

Gerald Wallace scored nine points, grabbed 10 rebounds and handed out two assists in his first game back after missing five with an ankle sprain. The Bobcats have topped the 100-point plateau in each of Silas' first two games, marking just the second time this season they have scored at least 100 points in consecutive games.

Over their last 12 home games, the Bobcats are averaging 97.0 points on .464 shooting from the floor. Charlotte forward Tyrus Thomas is doubtful for Friday with a sore right wrist.

Charlotte swept a home-and-home series with Golden State a season ago and has won three straight against the Warriors, who have lost four of their last five games at the Bobcats.
