Bobcats end road woes with OT win over T-Wolves

Augustin scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, as the Charlotte Bobcats snapped a nine-game road skid with a 108-105 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.Augustin also dished out eight assists and grabbed five rebounds for the Bobcats, who won on the road for the first time since November 12 at Washington.
Tyrus Thomas added 21 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte, which has won three of five. Boris Diaw donated 16 points and seven assists.
The Bobcats were without guard Stephen Jackson (right knee), forward Gerald Wallace (ankle) and center Nazr Mohammed (right knee).
"They came back and battled, but we held on," Bobcats head coach Paul Silas said. "It was such a great win."
Kevin Love finished with 35 points, 15 boards and five assists for the Timberwolves, who have lost three of four. Michael Beasley tallied 28 points and 12 rebounds.
With the score tied at 102-102 in overtime, the Bobcats scored six straight points. Eduardo Najera got the surge started with a layup. Thomas then stole the ball and went in for an easy layup. Love was called for a charge at the other end, leading to Augustin's jumper for a 108-102 margin with 1:17 remaining.
Beasley made things interesting by making 3-of-4 from the foul line to cut the gap to 108-105 with 40.4 seconds to go. Augustin and Najera both missed shots at the other end, and Minnesota called a timeout with 13.1 ticks left.
Beasley missed a shot from beyond the arc as time expired.
Martell Webster's three-pointer early in the fourth gave Minnesota an 80-75 lead.
The margin reached eight multiple times down the stretch, and it was 93-85 when Jonny Flynn made two free throws with 2:56 left.
Charlotte, though, used a 10-2 run to even the score. Augustin made a pair of three-pointers around Wesley Johnson's jumper to cut the gap to 95-93 with 1:17 remaining.
Beasley missed a jumper at the other end, and Flynn fouled Augustin from beyond the arc. Augustin made 2-of-3 free throws to make it a 95-95 game with 54.2 seconds to play in regulation.
A scramble for a loose ball at the opposite end resulted in Love controlling the ball and calling a timeout with 40.1 ticks to go. Thomas then blocked Beasley's attempted layup.
A trio of three-pointers were missed in the final seconds.
The Bobcats held a 24-23 edge after 12 minutes of action, and took a 57-43 margin into the locker room.
"To say we started the game poorly is an understatement," Love said. "That's all on us."
Minnesota outscored Charlotte, 30-14, in the third quarter to take a 73-71 lead into the fourth.
Game Notes
The Bobcats have won four in a row against the Timberwolves...Charlotte improved to 4-12 away from the Queen City this season. The Bobcats haven't dropped 10 in a row away from home since an 11-game hiccup from November 7, 2007-Janurary 4, 2008...Johnson had 10 points...Najera ended with 11 points.
