Blazers pull out comeback win in Houston

Jan 6, 2011 - 6:42 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 10 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, as Portland used a late comeback to top Houston, 103-100, at the Toyota Center.

Aldridge also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Patrick Mills scored 14 in a reserve role and Nicolas Batum, Marcus Camby and Dante Cunningham each finished with 10 points for the Trail Blazers, who went 1-1 on their Texas road trip.

"[Mills and Cunningham] were playing so hard and playing so smart. They gave us the spark we needed." Aldridge said of his teammates.

Portland lost to Dallas, on Tuesday but has won three of four overall.

Kevin Martin scored a game-high 45 points thanks to making 13-of-15 from the free throw line. Shane Battier added 13 points and Luis Scola grabbed 12 rebounds and recorded a career-high three blocks for the Rockets, who have lost three straight.

"Disappointing loss for us," Martin said. "Down by eight at the half, up by 13 in the fourth, we blew it."

Trailing 89-76 in the opening minutes of the fourth, Portland used a quick 13-0 run, capped by a Aldridge jumper and turnaround hook shot, to pull even just under the seven-minute mark.

Portland led 98-97 after a Rudy Fernandez jumper inside the final minute, and quickly widened the margin to five with a Aldridge layup and two free throws.

Kyle Lowry made it a one-possession game with 3.1 seconds remaining on a long triple, and after Portland's Andre Miller made the first of two from the line with 2.6 seconds remaining the game was at 103-100.

Miller missed the second free throw and Houston's Jordan Hill grabbed the rebound, calling an immediate timeout in the process.

The Rockets advanced the ball to mid-court, but Courtney Lee's desperation three at the buzzer was off target.

Portland took a 31-25 lead after the first, and widened the margin to 55-47 at the half. Martin led Houston with 19 points in the third quarter, as the Rockets took a 80-74 lead into the final stanza.

Game Notes

Houston held a 43-34 rebounding advantage...Martin was 6-of-8 from beyond the arc...Fernandez and Miller finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively...The Blazers turned 16 Houston turnovers into 25 points.
