Rose, Boozer lead Bulls over Pistons

Jan 11, 2011 - 7:42 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Derrick Rose finished with 29 points to go along with seven assists, and the Chicago Bulls used a strong second half to top the Detroit Pistons, 95-82, at United Center.

Carlos Boozer notched a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Luol Deng added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who have won seven straight at home and 10 straight in this series.

Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 15 points and Austin Daye contributed 14 points in a reserve role for Detroit, which has dropped four of five. Rookie Greg Monroe added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

"We gave them too many easy opportunities," Pistons head coach John Kuester said. "They capitalized on everything."

Prince led the way with 11 points in the first quarter, and the Pistons took a 25-20 lead after the opening 12 minutes. Daye added 14 points in the second, on 6-of-6 from the field, as the Pistons widened their margin to 55-43 at the half.

Chicago opened the third quarter on a 13-2 run, capped by a Boozer reverse layup and a pair of Deng free throws, to cut its deficit to 57-56 just under the seven-minute mark.

Boozer added another bank shot at 4:52 to tie the game at 61. Rodney Stuckey then responded with a long three on the next possession to keep the Pistons up.

However, two Rose free throws and a Deng powering dunk with 1 1/2 remaining put the Bulls up 71-70. The baskets also started a 9-0 run to end the quarter, giving the Bulls a 76-70 lead entering the final stanza.

The Chicago lead expanded to nine, 84-75, on a pair of Rose free throws with 7:34 remaining. After Prince responded with a layup and Monroe made 1-of-2 from the line, Chicago's advantage was down to six.

However, Boozer connected on a long jumper and sank a long three off a Pistons shot clock violation to push the Bulls margin to 89-78. The Bulls' lead remained around 11 until Ronnie Brewer made two from the line with 29.6 ticks remaining to account for the final margin.

"The first half we didn't play that well. The second half we were great," Boozer said. "We got back in the game because of our defense, and that's why we won."
