Knicks close out trek against Jazz

Jan 12, 2011 - 4:37 PM (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks will conclude a four-game western road swing tonight in Salt Lake City when they take on the always tough Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Knicks improved to 2-1 on the trek Tuesday in Portland when Amare Stoudemire finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, leading New York to a 100-86 victory over the Trail Blazers.

Ronny Turiaf added season highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who have won four of five overall. New York also improved to 12-8 on the road, a record that has already surpassed last season's 11-30 mark away from home.

Raymond Felton had 17 points and 14 assists in the victory.

"This team is a team that relies on everybody's strengths and weaknesses," Turiaf said. "We have a team where it's difficult to scout us because at any given time somebody can step in and have a good [game]."

The Jazz, who are tied atop the Northwest Division with the Oklahoma City Thunder, snapped a two-game skid in Houston on Saturday when Paul Millsap scored 12 of his 27 points in overtime, boosting Utah to a 103-99 win over the Rockets.

Millsap also had 10 rebounds while Al Jefferson added 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Jazz. Deron Williams chipped in 14 points and 15 assists in the win, while C.J. Miles came off the bench for 16 points.

"It shows we've got a lot of heart," Millsap said. "We've got a lot of guys who don't want to lose on this team, but we've got to focus in and get off to a better start if we're going to progress this season."

Utah has won four in a row in Salt Lake City over the Knicks, and three consecutive overall in the series.
