Spurs beat Bucks for fourth straight win

Jan 13, 2011 - 6:26 AM Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Manu Ginobili poured in 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as the San Antonio Spurs rallied past the Milwaukee Bucks, 91-84, at Bradley Center.

Matt Bonner added 17 points off the bench for the Spurs, who have won four in a row since a two-game skid. Tim Duncan donated 16 points and eight boards.

"We have guys do that every night. Everybody on the team has contributed at some point in the season," Bonner said. "We needed a shot in the arm in the second half offensively and I was able to come in and make some shots."

John Salmons finished with 17 points for the Bucks, who had an extra day of rest after Tuesday's game in Atlanta was postponed by a winter storm.

Andrew Bogut chipped in 15 points and 14 boards for Milwaukee, which got 11 points and 10 rebounds from Ersan Ilyasova. Earl Boykins added 12 points in a reserve role.

The Bucks held a 26-21 edge after 12 minutes of action, and took a 51-43 lead into the locker room.

But San Antonio started the second half on a 16-6 run to take the lead. Ginobili and Bonner both made three-pointers during the burst, with Bonner giving the Spurs a 59-57 margin with over 3 1/2 minutes left.

Milwaukee surged back in front, but only took a 66-65 margin into the fourth.

Trailing by two, 70-68, early in the fourth, San Antonio put together a 13-2 burst to take back the lead. Bonner tallied eight points during the stretch, which Duncan capped with a jumper for an 81-72 margin with 4:42 to play.

The Bucks responded with eight straight points to make it a one-point game on Salmons' three-pointer. Bogut blocked Duncan's jumper at the other end, but Salmons missed a jumper.

Ginobili made a short jumper to give the Spurs an 83-80 lead. Ilyasova then turned the ball over, leading to Duncan's slam with 1:22 left.

Salmons cut the gap to three with a pair of free throws, but Bonner answered with a jumper. Ginobili added two free throws with 22.5 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

"I don't want to take anything away from them but we started the second half a little bit slower offensively," Bucks head coach Scott Skiles said. "In five possessions we had four turnovers and it hurt us. I wouldn't say they were forced, I thought we just made some questionable decisions and we got a little bit tentative after that. We still hung in there but they kind of took it over mentally at that point in the game."
