Clippers carry win streak into Oakland
Jan 14, 2011 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers shoot for a season-high fourth straight win in Oakland tonight when they square off with Pacific Division rival Golden State. The revitalized Clips earned their third consecutive win by halting Miami's impressive 13-game road winning streak with a 111-105 win over the Heat at Staples Center on Wednesday. Blake Griffin recorded his 24th straight double- double with 24 points and 14 rebounds in that one.
Eric Gordon finished with 26 points, while Baron Davis contributed 20 points and nine assists for LA, which has won eight of 11 overall. Ryan Gomes was the fourth Clippers starter to end in double-digits as he added 11 points for the victors.
"It shows we can play with the best," Griffin said of his team. "Everybody came out and hit big shots."
The Warriors, meanwhile, dropped their second straight on Wednesday, a 115-110 setback to the Los Angeles Lakers in the opener of a five-game homestand. Kobe Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter in that one.
Golden State guard Monta Ellis -- a game-time decision with flu-like symptoms that required an intravenous injection earlier in the week -- played the whole game and scored 38 points to lead the Warriors, who have lost four of their last six games overall.
Dorell Wright had 27 points for Golden State and Stephen Curry scored 15 with 10 assists.
"We are showing you can compete against some of the best teams in the league," Warriors coach Keith Smart said. "We have shown that we can do that. If we can take care of the basketball we will have a chance every night to win."
Golden State, which is in the midst of a stretch in which they will play 13 of 14 games at ORACLE Arena, is now 9-7 on its home floor this season. The Warriors have, however, won nine of their last 10 in Oakland against the Clips.
The Clippers had little trouble with Golden State at Staples Center last Sunday, taking a rather easy 105-91 decision.
