Cavs aim to halt 13-game skid vs. Suns

Jan 19, 2011 - 4:02 PM (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to stop a season-high 13- game losing streak when they begin a brief homestand tonight versus the Phoenix Suns at Quicken Loans Arena.

Cleveland will also host Milwaukee on the residency, has lost four straight at the Q and is 5-12 in the Forest City this season. They just completed a winless five-game road trip with Saturday's 127-99 setback in Denver, as Ramon Sessions scored 21 points and Antawn Jamison had 17 points and seven rebounds.

"The effort was great. We just played a team that's just too much firepower," Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott said after his team's 19th straight road loss. "As shorthanded as we are right now just puts us in a bad position."

Jamison is averaging 22.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in his last seven games, while Sessions is posting 14.5 points over his last 10 contests. J.J. Hickson had 13 points and nine boards in the loss to the Nuggets and is averaging 15.8 points and 10.6 rebounds over the previous five games.

Cavs guard Daniel Gibson (ankle) is listed as probable for tonight and guard Mo Williams (hip) is expected to miss tonight's game.

Phoenix will continue a five-game road trip this evening and is coming off Monday's 129-121 triumph in New York. Vince Carter buried five of Phoenix's 11 three-pointers and ended with 29 points and 12 rebounds for the Suns, who have won three straight and four of five games.

Grant Hill scored 25 points and Channing Frye netted 18 in the win, as the Suns improved to 7-12 away from the desert this season. Steve Nash compiled 15 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for Phoenix.

"We're playing a little bit harder, competing more," Nash said. "I have cautious optimism."

The Suns will also visit the Wizards, Pistons and Sixers on the trip.

Phoenix topped Cleveland, 108-100, on Jan. 9 this season at US Airways Center and has won 16 of the previous 23 meetings between the teams. The Suns, however, have lost two in a row and four of six games at the Q.
