Jazz resume road trip in north Jersey against Nets
Jan 19, 2011 - 4:25 PM (Sports Network) - The Utah Jazz will continue a five-game road trip tonight against the New Jersey Nets from the Prudential Center.Utah had a three-game winning streak come to an end with Monday's 108-101 loss in Washington, as Deron Williams led all scorers with 28 points and added 11 assists in a losing effort.
Al Jefferson chipped in 25 points and 10 boards for the Jazz, who fell to 12-7 away from Salt Lake City this season.
"He's one of the fastest, quickest guys. He gets out and runs. He's a smart point guard," Williams said about Wall. "He knows how to get others involved. He's going to be a top point guard for a long time."
The Jazz are tied with Oklahoma City atop the Northwest Division, and will also visit the Celtics, Sixers and Lakers on the trek.
New Jersey will kick off a five-game homestand Wednesday versus the Jazz, Pistons, Mavericks, Cavaliers and Grizzlies, and is 7-10 as the host.
The Nets have dropped six straight and 11 of 12 games, and dropped all four tests on a recent road trip out west. In Monday's 109-100 loss at Golden State, Brook Lopez finished with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Nets, who got 19 points and eight assists from Devin Harris.
"That's one of the things we spent pretty much 30 minutes on before the game -- looking at their defense, talking to our team about taking care of the ball, and how the ball has to be a prized possession," Nets head coach Avery Johnson told NBA.com. "We just didn't do it."
Kris Humphries ended with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
Utah defeated New Jersey, 98-88, on Nov. 17 at EnergySolutions Arena and has won four straight and six of the last 10 meetings between the teams. The Jazz are 10-5 in their last 15 trips to New Jersey.
