Griffin leads Clippers into Dallas

Jan 25, 2011 - 4:45 PM (Sports Network) - Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers have been playing exceptionally well over the last month and will begin a tour through Texas tonight against the Dallas Mavericks in Big D.

The Clippers will also visit the Rockets in Space City and have dropped two straight games as the guest. They are just 3-13 in enemy courts this season.

Los Angeles, however, has won four of five and 12 of its last 17 games since Dec. 17, including a 113-109 triumph over Golden State on Saturday from Staples Center. Griffin sank the go-ahead three-pointer in the waning moments of the game and finished with 30 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists. Eric Gordon added 23 points for the Clippers, winners in seven straight at home.

"Blake had a great game and hit that huge shot where we thought we had a chance to get a rebound and have control of the game," Warriors guard Stephen Curry told NBA.com.

Ryan Gomes posted 15 points and eight boards in a winning cause. The Clippers scored a season-high 28 points in the paint and have outrebounded their opponents in six consecutive games. Gordon has scored 20 or more points in nine straight games and shook off a lower back injury against Golden State. He is listed as questionable for tonight's game.

The Mavericks have won two of three games since losing six straight and nine of 11 games, and are coming off Saturday's 87-86 victory in New Jersey. Dirk Nowitzki nailed the game-winning jump shot with six ticks left on the clock and finished with 23 points and seven rebounds. Dallas is 2-3 since Nowitzki returned to the lineup after he missed nine contests with a knee injury.

"I'm running in quicksand out there. I couldn't make a move. Even the last one -- it really didn't want to go in, but it kind of rolled up there," said Nowitzki. "It was an ugly game."

Tyson Chandler tallied 19 points and eight boards, while Jason Terry netted 11 points in a reserve role for the Mavs, who ended a five-game slide on the road and will begin a four-game homestand Tuesday versus the Clippers, Rockets, Hawks and Wizards. They are 15-8 at American Airlines Center this season.

The Mavericks defeated the Clippers, 99-83, on Oct. 31 this season at Staples Center behind 16 points and seven rebounds from Nowitzki. They have won seven straight and 13 of the past 14 meetings in this series and have two more games remaining against the Clippers this season (3/30, 4/8).

Los Angeles has dropped seven in a row and 20 of its last 23 games in Big D.
