Bobcats continue road trip vs. slumping Jazz

Jan 31, 2011 - 7:44 PM (Sports Network) - The Charlotte Bobcats hope to get back on the winning track when they resume a lengthy six-game road trip in Salt Lake City against the reeling Utah Jazz on Monday.

The Bobcats fell to 3-1 on their trek Saturday in Los Angeles when Blake Griffin recorded his 38th double-double of the season, scoring 24 points with 10 rebounds to lead the Clippers to a 103-88 victory over Charlotte.

The Bobcats, who were aiming for a franchise-record fifth straight road win, were led by 14 points apiece from Stephen Jackson and Gerald Henderson.

D.J. Augustin added 13 points in Charlotte's second loss in the last seven games. Center Kwame Brown was the only starter who played in the fourth quarter. Henderson and fellow reserves Shaun Livingston, Derrick Brown and Matt Carroll played all 12 minutes. Henderson scored 11 of his 14 points in the period.

"I wanted to give them a chance. We really didn't have much from our starting unit tonight," said Bobcats coach Paul Silas. "We did the best we could, we just need to get some rest and get ready for the next one."

The Jazz, meanwhile, lost for the seventh time in eight games in Oakland on Sunday when Stephen Curry scored 27 points, dished out seven assists and pulled down six rebounds, as the Golden State Warriors handled Utah, 96-81.

Al Jefferson finished with 16 points and 14 boards for the Jazz, who have fallen 2 1/2 games off the pace in the Northwest Division. Andrei Kirilenko tallied 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Utah, which got 12 points apiece from Paul Millsap and Raja Bell.

The Jazz were without star point guard Deron Williams for a second straight game due to a hyperextended right wrist. Utah was also without center Mehmet Okur (back).

"We're going through some tough times," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "We haven't played with a lot of energy and then Deron gets hurt."

Both Williams and Okur have been listed as doubtful for tonight's game as the Jazz shoot for a fifth consecutive win over Charlotte.
