Resurgent Clippers welcome streaking Bucks to Staples Center
Jan 31, 2011 - 4:13 PM (Sports Network) - Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers shoot for a ninth straight home win Monday when they entertain the Milwaukee Bucks at Staples Center. The Clippers won the opener of a three-game homestand on Saturday when Griffin recorded his 38th double-double of the season, scoring 24 points with 10 rebounds to lead Los Angeles to a 103-88 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Randy Foye, playing for the injured Eric Gordon, added a 21 points as the Clippers snapped a two-game overall losing streak and extended their run at Staples Center to eight, matching the 1992-93 club for the longest home winning streak since the team moved from San Diego.
Ryan Gomes added 18 points for LA and Baron Davis added 12 points and 11 assists in the win.
"I put a lot of pressure on myself, so I tried to make plays," Foye said. "Tonight we put it all together."
The Bucks, who are kicking off a three-game road trip tonight, won their third straight contest on Saturday when Carlos Delfino finished with 21 points in a rare start as Milwaukee topped the New Jersey Nets, 91-81, at the Bradley Center.
Andrew Bogut added 17 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks while Corey Maggette, Ersan Ilyasova and Keyon Dooling each finished with 14 points to round out the starters for the Bucks, who have won three straight and moved within one-half game of Charlotte for the Eastern Conference's eighth and final playoff spot
"Early in the game it looked like a typical back-to-back," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We didn't come out as sharp as we would have liked, but we battled through it. We picked up our defense, the ball movement was good and we were able to get some shots to go down. Overall, everyone contributed and we were able to pull out a good win."
The Bucks played without guards Earl Boykins and John Salmons, but did see the return of point guard Brandon Jennings who missed the team's last 19 games with a fractured foot.
Jennings, who had not played since undergoing surgery on Dec. 20 to repair a break to the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, finished with just two points in over 11 minutes of playing time.
The Clips have won eight of their last 11 games with Milwaukee.
