Mavs stretch win streak to eight, continue domination of Bobcats

Feb 6, 2011 - 7:44 AM Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 25 points while Jason Terry supplied 21 points in a reserve role, and Dallas remained perfect against the Bobcats with a 101-92 win at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Jose Barea added 15 points and Jason Kidd contributed 13 on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc while dishing out six assists for Dallas, which has won eight straight. Tyson Chandler pulled down 15 rebounds and had nine points against his former team.

D.J. Augustin led the Bobcats with 21 points. Stephen Jackson added 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. Gerald Wallace posted 13 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte, which has dropped four of five.

The Bobcats have never beaten Dallas in this series, 14 games, as well as never breaking the 100 point mark.

The Mavericks took a 82-66 lead into the fourth, however, the Bobcats started the quarter on a 11-3 run, capped by a Wallace layup at the seven minute mark.

After trading baskets, the Mavericks responded as Terry's driving layup and three-point conversion at 5:43 started a short 9-3 spurt to put the game away.

The Bobcats cut their deficit to as low as six, 98-92, with a pair of Augustin free throws with 61 seconds left, but Terry's jumper at the far end pushed Dallas over the century mark.

Boris Diaw led the Bobcats with 11 points in the first quarter, however, Dallas shot 52 percent from the field and took a 31-22 advantage into the second. Dallas' lead was 55-45 at the half following a back-and-forth second quarter.

The Mavericks continued their pace in the third quarter, with Kidd adding nine points as Dallas shot a combined 55.6 percent from the field. The Bobcats came out slow in the quarter and Dallas capitalized, taking the 16-point cushion into the final stanza.

"I thought we fought as hard as we could. (The Mavericks) are a pretty good team," Bobcats interim head coach Paul Silas said. "They've won seven in a row and beat Boston in Boston the other night. We came within six points, but Jason Terry and Dirk (Nowitzki) were just on fire. They're two go-to guys. They went to them and they prevailed, but I like how our guys didn't give up. We kept fighting and thats a plus for us."
