Randolph leads Grizzlies to OT win over Thunder

Feb 9, 2011 - 6:43 AM Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Zach Randolph scored 31 points, including a key basket late in overtime, to give Memphis a 105-101 win over Oklahoma City.

Randolph added 14 rebounds, while Tony Allen poured in 27 points and had five steals for the Grizzlies, who halted a two-game losing streak. Sam Young added 14 points, Mike Conley scored 13, and Marc Gasol chipped in 12 points for the victors.

Kevin Durant extended his career-best streak of double-doubles to five with a 31-point, 10-rebound performance. Russell Westbrook had 21 points and 11 assists for the Thunder, who had won three in a row.

"Shots didn't fall," said Oklahoma City forward Jeff Green, who made 2-of-12 field goals and finished with seven points. "We had open looks."

With 5:16 remaining in regulation, the Grizzlies extended their lead to 90-84 on two Allen free throws, which followed five straight points from Randolph.

Oklahoma City stormed back, though, to score the next five points. Westbrook finished a three-point play to knot it, 92-92, at the three-minute mark.

Westbrook then added a foul shot and Durant nailed a jumper with 1:43 remaining, giving the Thunder a 95-92 lead. However, on the other end of the court, Allen converted a three-point play to tie the game at 95 with just under a minute to play.

Following a Durant miss, Conley was called for traveling to give the home team the ball with 21.7 seconds left. Oklahoma City held for the last shot, but Westbrook's three fell well short to send the game into overtime.

Memphis held a 100-97 edge heading into the final minute, following a Young jumper. After multiple failed possessions and two missed free throws by Westbrook, Durant made two from the line with 45.4 ticks left.

But on the next Grizzlies possession, Randolph banked in a short basket to restore a three-point edge. Durant then turned the ball over, and Conley made 3-of-4 free throws to seal the win.

"We kept battling," Memphis head coach Lionel Hollins said. "Some negative things happened to us. They called traveling on us twice. We had a fastbreak and we throw it away. But we kept playing, we didn't quit."

Durant scored 11 points in the first 12 minutes to help the Thunder to a 27-24 lead.

Oklahoma City's lead grew to 47-34 after Westbrook sank two free throws with 3:12 left to play in the half, and the Thunder carried a 54-44 lead into the break.

Trailing by double-digits through most of the third quarter, the Grizzlies ended the frame with a 17-2 run. The rally lasted nearly five minutes, included 11 free throws, and had Memphis up 74-71 moving to the fourth.

Game Notes

Oklahoma City turned the ball over 23 times, which Memphis converted into 31 points. However, the Thunder did win the battle of the glass, 58-36...Allen's 27 points were a season high...The Grizzlies are 12-18 on the road...The Thunder are still 18-8 at home this season...Serge Ibaka had six points and 14 boards in the loss.
