Wizards snap skid with win over Bucks
Feb 10, 2011 - 4:34 AM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Nick Young had 26 points to lead Washington's balanced attack as it halted an eight-game skid with a 100-85 win over Milwaukee.JaVale McGee notched 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Wizards, who are 14-12 at home but still hold a dreadful 0-25 mark on the road. They finish out a four-game homestand on Saturday against San Antonio.
John Wall and Cartier Martin each had 15 points and Andray Blatche scored 12 and grabbed eight boards in the win.
"It feels very good to win," Wall said. "Hopefully, we can keep it going. Hopefully, we can get another home win and then break that road streak."
Brandon Jennings notched 20 points and John Salmons added 14 points as the Bucks suffered their fifth loss in six outings. Andrew Bogut added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort.
"We just didn't play good tonight," Bogut said. "We didn't look good."
It was a tepid start for both teams, as each shot less than 45 percent from the felid in the first quarter. Kirk Hinrich's jumper with time winding down put the Wizards up 22-19.
The Wizards slowly pushed away in the second quarter highlighted by Young's dunk over Ersan Ilyasova with 3:34 left for a 42-32 edge. The home team held onto a 47-37 lead into the break.
Washington used a 12-4 run in the first three minutes of the third to take a commanding 59-41 edge. Young had eight points during the spurt.
The fourth-year guard continued to shine a few minutes later when he stole the ball and dished it off to Wall to setup his own breakaway slam, making it a 20-point contest with 8 1/2 minutes left in the third.
The Bucks trimmed the edge to 77-60 heading into the fourth and could only cut it to 12 several times during the final frame. Martin hit back-to-back threes to push the edge back to 18, 89-71, with 5:42 to go and the Wizards cruised from there.
