Young helps Washington to first road win

Feb 14, 2011 - 5:13 AM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Nick Young led the way with 31 points, as the Washington Wizards snapped a 25-game road losing streak with a 115-100 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Washington's first road win of the year comes just two days after the Cavaliers halted an NBA record 26-game skid.

John Wall added 19 points and 14 assists for the Wizards, who were closing in on Dallas' NBA-record 0-29 road start in 1992-93. Andray Blatche and Kirk Hinrich each chipped in with 17 points.

"At least, now, the guys can watch ESPN again," Wizards head coach Flip Saunders said. "They didn't want to watch ESPN because you keep hearing about 0-24 and 0-25. Now, there's nothing for them. More important, not just winning, it's how we won. I thought that we played well from beginning to end."

Ex-Wizard Antawn Jamison finished with 21 points and seven rebounds to pace the Cavaliers, who beat the Clippers in overtime on Friday to end their lengthy losing streak.

This was Jamison's first game against his former team since being dealt to Cleveland almost a year ago. Jamison played 5 1/2 seasons with the Wizards and missed Cleveland's earlier 107-102 win over Washington on November 6 with a balky knee.

Holding a 12-8 lead with 8 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter, the Wizards ripped off 11 straight points to create some distance. JaVale McGee's layup made it 23-8 with six minutes remaining.

Washington shot 61.5 percent from the field over the first 12 minutes en route to a 35-23 margin.

The Wizards scored nine unanswered points midway through the second stanza to build a comfortable lead. Wall tallied seven points during the surge, including a layup with over four minutes left to make it a 56-34 contest.

Washington took its largest lead of the game at 25, 65-40, on McGee's hook shot with under two minutes to go in the half. It was 68-46 at the break.

Cleveland outscored the Wizards, 33-27, in the third to get within 95-79.

The Cavaliers never got closer than 11 in the fourth.

"First of all, just like I told the guys, I am still trying to figure them out because to me that was ridiculous," Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott said. "Effort wise I thought it just was not there. In the beginning of the game it did not look like it was there. It looked like we were just sleepwalking through it. In the second half, we tried to put it together and come back, but it was not there, period."
