Bobcats begin life without Wallace; host Kings

Feb 25, 2011 - 4:16 PM (Sports Network) - The Charlotte Bobcats will begin life without Gerald Wallace when they entertain the Sacramento Kings Friday night from Time Warner Cable Arena.

Wallace was dealt to Portland before the NBA's trade deadline approached in exchange for center Joel Przybilla, forward Dante Cunningham and a pair of first-round draft picks. Charlotte also traded Nazr Mohammed to Oklahoma City for forward D.J. White and guard Morris Peterson.

The Bobcats are expected to have their new players in uniform tonight and have won three of four games, including Tuesday's 114-101 victory over the visiting Toronto Raptors. D.J. Augustin had 23 points and eight assists, while Wallace closed out his Bobcats tenure with 20 points. Boris Diaw had 16 points and nine assists for Charlotte, which has won two in a row at home and is 15-14 as the host this season.

"We're trying to make the playoffs, " Diaw said. "We have no room for error. We really have to take care of business every game."

Charlotte is 1 1/2 games behind Indiana for the eighth and final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference. Guard Stephen Jackson (hamstring) is listed as probable for tonight's game and had 13 points versus the Raptors.

The Bobcats are 16-13 under Paul Silas after going 9-19 with Larry Brown at the helm for the season's first 28 contests.

Sacramento will resume a seven-game road trip this evening and won for just the second time this month (2-8) with Wednesday's 111-105 victory in Orlando behind a career-high 21 points from Jermaine Taylor.

Beno Udrih finished with 18 points and 10 assists, while Jason Thompson and Samuel Dalembert each scored 17 points for the Kings, who are 2-3 on the road trip and 7-19 away from ARCO Arena this season.

"In the fourth quarter our execution was excellent. We made some big shots, got some big stops. We're going away happy," said Kings head coach Paul Westphal.

The Kings were also busy at the NBA trade deadline and added guard Marcus Thornton from New Orleans for forward Carl Landry. They also landed Marquis Daniels and cash from Boston for a second-round draft pick in 2017. Kings reigning Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans is out at least a few weeks with a case of plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Sacramento will close out the road swing in Memphis on Saturday.

Charlotte defeated the Kings, 94-89, on Jan. 25 this season in California's capital and has won five straight in the series. Sacramento has dropped two straight and five of the six matchups at the Bobcats.
