Suns take on Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse

Feb 27, 2011 - 4:11 PM (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns will resume a six-game road trip this afternoon against the Indiana Pacers from Conseco Fieldhouse.

Phoenix opened the trek with Friday's 110-92 triumph in Toronto, as Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat both scored 17 points to lead the way. Gortat also grabbed 11 rebounds and Channing Frye scored 16 points for Phoenix, which has won nine of its last 12 games overall and improved to 12-14 as the guest. Steve Nash had seven points on 2-of-12 shooting and handed out 11 assists.

"I thought we did a good job of controlling the game," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. "Although Steve didn't shoot the ball well, you can see how he can have total control over a game without being a scorer."

The Suns had a 42-31 advantage on the glass and shot 48 percent from the floor in their 13th straight win over Toronto. They will also visit the Nets, Celtics, Bucks and Thunder on the current road swing, and have won three in a row away from home.

Gortat's 10 double-doubles -- all off the bench -- are the most by a Suns reserve since A.C. Green had 10 during the 1993-94 campaign. Phoenix is two games off the final playoff berth in the West.

Indiana had a modest two-game winning streak stopped and fell to 1-1 on a four-game homestand with Friday's 95-84 loss to the Utah Jazz. Utah had lost five in a row and earned its first win under Tyrone Corbin (1-4).

Danny Granger scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Darren Collison added 16 points and Roy Hibbert 14 for the Pacers, who finished just 2-of-14 from three-point range and fell to 9-4 under interim head coach Frank Vogel. Vogel took over for Jim O'Brien at the end of January.

Indiana, currently seeded eighth in the East, lost for just the fifth time in 15 games, ending a 12-game stretch of netting 100-plus points.

"We couldn't make shots, we couldn't rebound," Granger said. "We got kicked on the boards, so our overall rating for the game would be a total 'F'. They were big and strong and got after us and we just didn't respond."

The Pacers will also host Golden State and are 16-13 in Indy this season. Forward Mike Dunleavy is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks after undergoing surgery Friday to repair a fracture in his left thumb.

Phoenix defeated Indiana, 105-97, on Dec. 3 this season in the desert, as Frye pumped in 29 points and Jason Richardson added 21 in that one. The Suns have won nine of 11 and 10 of the past 13 meetings with the Pacers.
