Jennings, Bucks edge Pistons

Mar 2, 2011 - 5:58 AM Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Brandon Jennings scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds, handed out four assists and made a key blocked shot down the stretch as Milwaukee held off Detroit, 92-90, at the Bradley Center.

Carlos Delfino pumped in 16 points and hauled in 10 boards while John Salmons scored 14 points to help the Bucks snap a two-game slide. Milwaukee played without center Andrew Bogut, who missed the game with a rib injury.

"It was a good shorthanded win," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We were able to get stops. We played pretty hard, especially the last four or five minutes of the game."

Rodney Stuckey scored a game-best 25 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists for the Pistons, who have dropped four out of five.

"We had wide open looks, we just couldn't knock them down," Pistons coach John Kuester said. "You can't come up empty in a game like this, every point is so important."

Greg Monroe supplied 13 points and nine caroms and Richard Hamilton added 10 points in just his second game since January 10, both against the Bucks.

Hamilton's jumper put the Pistons ahead for the remainder of the third quarter at 69-68 with 3 1/2 minutes to play. Will Bynum's layup with 40.9 ticks to go gave the visitors a 75-72 edge heading into the fourth quarter.

Milwaukee regained the lead for good with eight straight points, bracketed by threes from Salmons and Keyon Dooling, to open the fourth quarter.

Stuckey's layup cut the deficit to 88-86 with 89 seconds left prior to a Jennings layup off a beautiful Delfino feed pushed the lead back to four 21 seconds later.

Ben Gordon netted a jumper with 53.9 ticks to go to trim the lead to 90-88 and the Pistons then forced a turnover with 30.9 seconds remaining.

Bynum missed from close range but the Pistons were able to get the offensive rebound and set up again before Jennings swatted Bynum's right corner triple try with 16.2 ticks left.

"My first instinct was that he was going to pump fake, so I didn't want a pump fake to give him a three-point shot," Jennings said in describing the blocked shot. "He went up for it and I had to make a big block."

Austin Daye missed left-wing three-pointer and Jennings sealed the win with two foul shots with 5.9 seconds to go.

The Bucks led from start to finish, and by as many as seven, to take a 28-22 lead after the first quarter.

Milwaukee led by nine on three different occasions during the second quarter before the Pistons ended the half on a 9-4 push to go into the break trailing 51-50.

Game Notes

Jennings connected on only 8-of-19 shots as the Bucks shot 42 percent...Dooling added 12 points off the bench while Corey Maggette supplied 11 in a reserve role...Hamilton made only 4-of-17 in his first game since February 5...Detroit shot only 40 percent from the floor, including a woeful 4-of-16 from long distance...Charlie Villanueva contributed 12 points and nine caroms off the bench and Gordon added 10 points and five boards in the loss.
