Cavs win 11th straight over Knicks

Mar 5, 2011 - 4:57 AM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Anthony Parker and Baron Davis buried back-to- back three-pointers down the stretch, and the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied for another win over New York Knicks, 119-115, to snap their 26-game road losing streak.

The Cavs won for the first time on the road in nearly four months despite trailing by 12 points with less than seven minutes to play.

Cleveland beat the Knicks for the 11th straight time, moving to 3-0 against them this season -- including two wins in the last eight days with Carmelo Anthony in the New York lineup.

"I don't think our guys let the bright lights get to them tonight," said Cavs head coach Byron Scott. "Our guys never quit -- we just kept fighting."

Indeed, it seems not even 'Melo can help the Knicks lick Cleveland.

Trying to tie the game in the final seconds, Anthony sliced into the lane and was called for an offensive foul after driving his knee into Samardo Samuels under the basket.

"It is a tough loss. I really don't want to say it is embarrassing, but it is a tough loss knowing we went out there in Cleveland and lost a game to them," said Anthony. "Knowing how important it is to take care of home court. Losing tonight is a tough one."

Davis scored 18 points in his Cavs debut after being acquired in a trade last week. He followed Parker's trey from the right corner with a three-pointer near the top of the arc to give Cleveland a four-point lead with 10.6 seconds left.

Amare Stoudemire responded with a rare three-pointer at the other end for the last of his game-high 41 points, but the Knicks fell to 3-3 since the blockbuster Anthony trade.

"If you don't close games out, you're at the mercy of the other players," said Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni.

J.J. Hickson had 23 points and Luke Harangody added 18 for the Cavs, whose last road victory game against New Jersey on November 9.

Besides the two recent wins, Cleveland also beat the Knicks on December 18 -- two days before their NBA-record 26-game losing streak began.

Anthony finished with 29 points, while guards Landry Fields (17) and Toney Douglas (11) combined for 28 with Chauncey Billups out of the lineup again for New York.

Billups, a part of the Anthony trade, missed his second straight game with a bruised left thigh.

The Knicks still led by 12 points, 104-92, after Shelden Williams' free throw with 6:58 to play. But Hickson's layup at the other end sparked a 14-2 Cavs run that tied the game at 106.

Anthony actually had two offensive fouls down the stretch -- the first came with 1:32 remaining when he left his feet on a pass in the paint. Cleveland missed at the other end and Stoudemire hit a jumper to give the Knicks a 112-110 lead with 58.8 seconds left.

Parker and Davis followed with their three-pointers, and the Knicks were unable catch up.

"We let them have their rhythm. We had shots at end and didn't make them. Pretty simple," said D'Antoni.

Davis was 6-of-15 from the floor in his Cavs debut, but added five assists in 26 productive minutes. He was acquired from the LA Clippers along with an unprotected first-round pick last week for Mo Williams.

"We struggled stopping him," D'Antoni said. "What you don't do is let him have a big shot to win the game."

The game was tied 32-32 after the first quarter, but the Knicks pulled ahead 64-58 at halftime. They had an 88-85 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Stoudemire also missed a three-pointer at the buzzer. He is 10-for-21 on the season and 25-of-100 for his career beyond the arc. Of Stoudemire's threes on Friday, D'Antoni said: "It should never get that far"...The Cavs were coming off a 3-5 homestand. It was their first game on the road since February 7 at Dallas...Eight of Cleveland's 11 consecutive wins against the Knicks came during the LeBron James era.
