Warriors resume road trip in Cleveland

Mar 8, 2011 - 3:55 PM (Sports Network) - The end of a lengthy trip is near for the Golden State Warriors, who will continue a seven-game trek tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers from Quicken Loans Arena.

Golden State fell to 1-4 on the excursion and lost for the sixth time in seven tries overall, including Sunday's 125-117 overtime loss in Philadelphia. Monta Ellis had 18 of his game-best 27 points in the fourth quarter and Stephen Curry provided 22 points and seven assists in a losing effort.

"There's no games in the NBA that you should win," Warriors coach Keith Smart said. "There are games you've got to take."

The Warriors were outscored, 19-11, in the extra period and got 14 points and 14 rebounds from David Lee. Dorell Wright scored 16 points for Golden State, which will close out the road swing in New Jersey on Wednesday and is only 8-22 away from Oakland this season.

Lee has a double-double in five of his last six games, while Ellis has netted 20 or more points in 30 of his previous 38 contests. Curry's been posting 20- plus points in four of five games.

Since ending an NBA-record 26-game losing streak on Feb. 11 versus the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland has lost five of eight games and is coming off Sunday's 96-81 home setback to the New Orleans Hornets at the Q.

Baron Davis had 17 points and six assists in his debut in front of the home crowd since coming over via trade with the Clippers. J.J. Hickson and Ramon Sessions had 15 points apiece for the Cavaliers, who are 8-23 at home.

"The fans are great here," Davis said. "I've been dying to play in front of this crowd. The fans have been great. With them standing up and the ovation like that, it just makes me want to play my hardest and win as many games as we can with this organization."

The Cavs shot a dreadful 36.8 percent and turned the ball over 17 times for 19 Hornets points. Guard Daniel Gibson has missed three straight games with a bruised left quadriceps and is questionable for tonight.

Cleveland is already without Antawn Jamison due to finger surgery and he could miss the remainder of the season.

Golden State handed the Cavs a 116-98 loss on Jan. 7 this season out west and got 32 points and 10 assists from Ellis in that one. Lee powered his way to 22 points and 14 rebounds to help the Warriors snap a four-game slide in the series. Cleveland is 7-2 in the previous nine meetings between the teams.
