Durant sparks Thunder's comeback win in Philly

Mar 10, 2011 - 4:31 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Kevin Durant, the NBA's leading scorer, led Oklahoma City's comeback with 34 points and 16 rebounds, as the Northwest Division-leading Thunder rallied past the Sixers, 110-105, in overtime at Wells Fargo Center.

Russell Westbrook added 27 points and 12 assists for the Thunder, who have won four of five. Nick Collison tallied 13 points and 10 boards off the bench.

"It was a good win for us," Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said. "We made a lot of big plays down the stretch."

Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday each finished with 22 points for the Sixers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jodie Meeks donated 17 points and seven rebounds.

Andre Iguodala chipped in with 14 points, eight assists and six boards for Philadelphia, which has lost five in a row against Oklahoma City.

"I'm disappointed because I really wanted our guys to win this game," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said. "Our crowd was so great tonight. They are a good defensive team. Their length inside bothered us. [Serge] Ibaka, [Nick] Collison, [Nazr] Mohammed made it very difficult for us to get anything around the basket. They beat us in the paint 52-36, so that was tough."

Durant brought the Thunder within three, 101-98, on a running jumper with 36.9 seconds left in regulation. Durant then blocked Iguodala's jumper before tying the game with a three-pointer.

"Once I let it go I felt confident it was going in," Durant said. "It was a great play call."

The Sixers had 6.9 ticks remaining to win the game, but Iguodala was called for a charge. The Thunder put the ball into Durant's hands again, but his three-pointer was off the mark.

Holding a 106-105 lead with under 1 1/2 minutes to play in overtime, Durant drained an 18-footer to put the Thunder in front by three.

The Sixers got the ball back following Iguodala's missed three-pointer and Westbrook's turnover. But Meeks missed a three and Elton Brand was called for an offensive foul.

Westbrook then made a jumper from the foul line with 22.9 seconds left to seal the victory.

The Sixers started the game on a 15-4 run, but the Thunder scored 11 of the next 13 points to cut the gap to two, 17-15. Philadelphia held a 34-28 edge after 12 minutes.

Oklahoma City started the second period on a 13-6 flurry to go in front. Daequan Cook's jumper gave the visitors a 41-40 lead with 7 1/2 minutes to go. It was a 55-55 game at the half.

Trailing by six, 78-72, with under 3 1/2 minutes to go in the third, the Thunder closed out the frame on a 10-2 run. Durant's four-point play gave Oklahoma City an 82-80 edge heading to the fourth.

With the score tied at 92-92 with 4:19 to play in regulation, Williams scored all of Philadelphia's points during a 9-4 flurry. Williams' trey with 2:19 left gave the 76ers a 101-96 margin.

But Philly failed to score in the final minutes of the fourth.

Holiday also dished out eight assists for the Sixers, who went 10-of-24 from three-point range...Iguodala went 5-of-12 from the field for Philadelphia, which got 13 points and 15 rebounds from Brand...The Thunder shot 50 percent from the floor...Durant went 13-of-26 from the field.
