Nuggets try to extend home win streak vs. Pistons

Mar 12, 2011 - 4:04 PM (Sports Network) - The Denver Nuggets aim for their sixth consecutive victory at home when they entertain the Detroit Pistons tonight from the Pepsi Center.

Denver has the second-best home record in the Western Conference at 26-7, while San Antonio is an impressive 31-3 in the Alamo City. The Nuggets went 2-1 on a three-game road trip culminated with Thursday's 116-97 win over the Phoenix Suns in the desert. The Nuggets snapped a 12-game slide in Phoenix.

Ty Lawson filled the stat sheet with 20 points and 11 assists, while Nene notched 22 points and seven rebounds for the Nuggets, who have won seven of nine and sit fifth in the Western Conference standings.

"We had a lot of motivation going into this game," Lawson said. "We haven't won here in seven years. We were trying to make sure we got the win. We pressured them and we played really good."

Wilson Chandler had 16 points in a winning effort. Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo is questionable for tonight with a hamstring injury.

The Pistons, meanwhile, have lost two straight and four of five games, including Friday's 104-94 decision at Oklahoma City.

Richard Hamilton finished with 20 points, while Rodney Stuckey and Tayshaun Prince scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Detroit, which fell to 0-2 on a three-game road trip and 7-26 away from The Palace.

"They were hitting shots," Stuckey said. "James Harden came in and played a very good game. [Kevin] Durant did his usual as well as Russell Westbrook. They played a complete game."

Pistons center Ben Wallace (personal) missed the game and is questionable for Saturday. The Pistons turned the ball over 16 times, leading to 21 Oklahoma City points.

Denver handed the Pistons a 109-100 setback on Jan. 26 this season at The Palace of Auburn Hills, as former Piston and current Knick Chauncey Billups pumped in 26 points in that one.

The Nuggets have won two straight after losing the previous seven encounters with Detroit, which is 16-4 in the past 20 meetings with Denver.
