Lowly Wizards visit hapless Raptors

Mar 18, 2011 - 2:59 PM (Sports Network) - The road-weary Washington Wizards will pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors tonight at Air Canada Centre.

Washington has lost five in a row overall and five straight on the road, falling to 1-30 as the guest this season after Tuesday's 98-79 setback in Chicago. JaVale McGee recorded the first triple-double of his career with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks.

McGee became the first NBA player to record 12 blocks in a game since Toronto's Keon Clark did it on March 23, 2001. Manute Bol holds Washington's franchise record with 15 blocks in a game.

Jordan Crawford finished with a career-high 27 points, while John Wall added 17 points and 11 rebounds in defeat. Since winning their only road game of the season on Feb. 13 at Cleveland, the Wizards have dropped 12 of 13 games.

Wizards guard Nick Young is questionable for Friday's game with a bruised left knee and leads the team with 17.7 ppg. Crawford is averaging 19.3 ppg in his last four contests and Wall is posting 17.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game this month (7 games).

Toronto, meanwhile, has lost two straight and five of six games and is coming off Wednesday's 107-93 setback in Detroit.

Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 20 points and DeMar DeRozan collected 16 in a losing effort. Jose Calderon was credited with 10 points and six assists for Toronto, which hopes to improve on its 13-22 home record tonight.

"You can't dig a hole like we did," Raptors coach Jay Triano said. "You can't afford to get down early to this team, they moved the ball extremely well and picked us apart."

The Raptors dropped their 14th straight game as the visitor and have not won on the road since January 5 against Cleveland.

Raptors forward Amir Johnson is questionable for Friday's game with ankle issues and has missed three games in a row. Bargnani needs two three-pointers to reach 500 for his career, as the Raptors try to avoid 50 losses in a season for the first time since going 27-55 in 2005-06.

Washington has won two of three meetings with Toronto in 2010-11, but has lost six of nine visits up north. The Raptors are trying to split the season series with the Wizards for the first time since the 1999-00 campaign.
