Mavs aim to bounce back with Warriors in town

Mar 20, 2011 - 2:58 PM (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks have stumbled a bit recently and will try to get back on track when they resume a three-game homestand tonight versus the Golden State Warriors in Big D.

Dallas has dropped three of four and five of its last eight games, including Friday's 97-91 setback versus the Southwest Division-rival San Antonio Spurs. Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and Jason Terry added 19 for the Mavericks, who are 24-11 at home and seeded third in the Western Conference.

"It was a disappointing loss tonight. Obviously we're not playing the way earlier on this season and this point right now," Terry said. "The good thing, the positive thing is we still have time to get things corrected. We've got to come to practice tomorrow, strap them up, watch some film and get ready for Golden State (Sunday)."

The Mavericks will also host Minnesota and can clinch a postseason spot with a win and a Phoenix loss against the LA Clippers.

On the injury front for Dallas, forward Shawn Marion is questionable for tonight's game with a wrist injury suffered against the Spurs. Marion had 13 points in the recent setback.

Golden State is running out of time for a playoff berth and sits 7 1/2 games off the eighth and final postseason slot in the West.

The Warriors will continue a four-game road trip that began with Friday's 108-97 loss in Phoenix, as Dorell Wright scored 30 points and David Lee registered 16 and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which has dropped three in a row and fell to 9-25 as the guest.

Monta Ellis only had eight points and Stephen Curry scored 15 in defeat.

"We never quit," said Golden State guard Stephen Curry. "I think the bench came in and gave us some great minutes, got some defensive stops, got the ball moving in our direction a little faster and Dorell and Al Thornton came in and got some good offensive possessions for us. Defensively, we were a little better; we just didn't have enough to get over the top."

Golden State will also visit the Spurs and Rockets on the trip.

Dallas has beaten the Warriors twice already this season and has won five straight and eight of the past 10 matchups in the series. The Warriors have dropped 18 of their previous 23 contests in Big D.
