Sliding Wizards host Nets in DC

Mar 20, 2011 - 3:00 PM (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards will try to stop a six-game slide when they welcome the New Jersey Nets to the Verizon Center this afternoon.

Washington owns a 1-13 mark in its last 14 contests and is coming off Friday's 116-107 loss at Toronto in which Trevor Booker pumped in a career-high 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Jordan Crawford added 25 points and rookie John Wall compiled 21 points with seven assists for the Wizards, who fell to 1-31 on the road this season.

"I thought with all the rookies we had, they played well," Wizards head coach Flip Saunders said. "Booker and [Crawford] took the opportunity and they played hard."

JaVale McGee collected 11 points and 12 rebounds in defeat. The Wizards lost both tests on a two-game trek and will return to DC, where they sport a 15-20 ledger in 2010-11. Wizards leading scorer Nick Young missed his second straight game with a bruised left knee and is listed as questionable Sunday.

McGee is averaging 12.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.5 blocks in his previous four games while Crawford is posting 20.4 ppg in his previous five contests for a Wizards club mired in a three-game home losing streak.

New Jersey closes out a quick two-game trip Sunday in the nation's capital and has dropped four in a row away from home.

In a 110-95 loss at Milwaukee on Friday, Brook Lopez had 25 points and Deron Williams chipped in 18 points and nine assists for the Nets, losers in two straight following a five-game winning streak. Kris Humphries scored 10 points to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Williams is listed as questionable for today's game with a sprained right wrist and head coach Avery Johnson expressed his concern postgame.

"We're very concerned and it's something we're going to have a deep discussion about," Johnson told NBA.com. "We were going to leave him out, but he wanted to go back in. I don't think we can continue every game at this rate."

Johnson's squad is only 4-28 away from the Prudential Center in 2010-11.

The Nets and Wizards have split a pair of matchups so far this season while Washington has won seven of the past nine meetings between the teams. New Jersey has lost three in a row at the Verizon Center.
