Knicks make a stop in Milwaukee

Mar 20, 2011 - 3:02 PM (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks look to put the brakes on a three-game road losing streak when they invade the Badger State this afternoon for a showdown with the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center.

New York suffered its third consecutive loss as the visitor in Friday's 99-95 defeat to the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Amare Stoudemire paced the Knicks with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Toney Douglas, who hit nine of New York's franchise-high 20 three-pointers in a recent win over Memphis, had 20 points as well and 11 assists.

Douglas sank 4-of-8 shots from downtown against Detroit. Carmelo Anthony was held to just six points on 2-of-12 shooting and Chauncey Billups tallied 12 points for New York, which lost for the fourth time in five tries. Anthony had scored 25 or more points in three straight games and was held to his lowest point total since scoring eight in a loss to New Orleans on Jan. 9.

"It is disappointing anytime you lose," said New York head coach Mike D'Antoni. "Tonight we had 18 turnovers that gave them 28 points and on the road you can't turn the ball over like that."

The Knicks are a percentage point ahead of Philadelphia for the sixth seed in the East and 16-19 away from Madison Square Garden.

Milwaukee will continue a four-game homestand Sunday and posted a 110-95 victory over the New Jersey Nets Friday night.

Carlos Delfino and John Salmons scored 26 and 25 points, respectively, for the Bucks, who ended a three-game losing streak to improve to 18-17 in Brew City this season. Brandon Jennings added 16 points and a game-high 10 assists in Milwaukee's fourth win in the past seven tries.

"They've gotten better than the first couple times we played them," Bucks center Andrew Bogut said of New Jersey. "They've got more energy."

Bogut had 13 points and is questionable for today's game with a sore right elbow. The Bucks are 1-1 on the homestand will also welcome Sacramento to the Bradley Center.

Milwaukee is two games off the eighth and final postseason spot in the East.

New York and Milwaukee have split a pair of meetings this season, with each team winning as the host. The Bucks had a four-game winning streak stopped in the previous meeting on Feb. 23 at MSG, but are 8-2 in the past 10 matchups.

The Knicks have lost two straight and four of five trips to Milwaukee.
