Griffin, Clippers beat Wizards in 2OT

Mar 24, 2011 - 6:30 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Blake Griffin had his first career triple- double with 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists as the Los Angeles Clippers pulled away to earn a 127-119 victory over the Washington Wizards in double overtime.

"It means a lot," Griffin said of the personal milestone, "but the best part about it was getting the win."

Eric Gordon had 32 points, including a three-pointer that forced the second overtime, while Chris Kaman added 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers, who had dropped three of four coming into the game.

John Wall totaled 32 points, 10 assists and five boards, Jordan Crawford had 25 points, 10 helpers and seven rebounds while JaVale McGee added 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks for the Wizards, who have dropped two straight and eight of nine.

"This one hurts," Crawford said.

With Los Angeles holding a three-point lead in the second overtime, Gordon missed a three-pointer, but Jamario Moon came up with the offensive board and Randy Foye made a wide-open look from long range for a 125-119 lead with 46.1 seconds to play, all but sealing the win.

A 9-0 run in the first quarter coupled with the final four points of the frame allowed the Clippers to take a 33-21 lead into the second. Washington scored the next eight points on the way to trimming its deficit to 58-49 at halftime.

The Wizards had another run, surging ahead with 13 straight points in the third quarter which helped them take a 77-75 lead into the fourth.

The game was close over the final 12 minutes and Foye hit just one of two free throws with 19 seconds to play for a two-point Clippers lead. But Wall countered with a basket and Griffin's desperation three-ball at the buzzer hit nothing but air to send the game to overtime.

Coming off a timeout with 5.8 seconds to play in the first overtime and trailing by three, Gordon hit a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds on the clock to force the second overtime.

"We didn't make the right reads at the end and they took the game away from us," said Wall.
