Sixers snap Bulls' 14-game home winning streak

Mar 29, 2011 - 4:56 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Thaddeus Young came off the bench to lead the way with 21 points and seven rebounds, as the Philadelphia 76ers snapped the Chicago Bulls' 14-game home winning streak with a 97-85 victory at the United Center.

Andre Iguodala had a solid game, finishing with 19 points, seven boards and seven assists for the 76ers, who suffered a 114-111 overtime loss to Sacramento on Sunday and had dropped three of four entering the contest.

Philadelphia, sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, moved another step closer to locking up a playoff berth. Spencer Hawes provided 14 points before fouling out, while Elton Brand ended with 13 points and nine rebounds for the victors.

"We had to play with some poise and that's what we did down the stretch," Brand said. "We all chipped in and it was a team effort."

Derrick Rose had a game-high 31 points for Chicago, which had a four-game winning streak halted. The Bulls have already locked up the Central Division title and still hold a two-game lead over Boston for the top spot in the East.

Carlos Boozer had 15 points and nine boards, while Joakim Noah recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds in defeat.

"They're a good team," Rose said. "If we get a chance to play them again it's going to be different."

Philadelphia jumped out to a 27-13 lead after 12 minutes and the Sixers continued to have their way with things throughout the second.

Brand's turnaround jumper had his squad up by 18, 41-23, with 7:38 left before the half. Then a short time later, Young scored six points in a 7-0 run to give the Sixers a healthy 48-25 advantage with 4:47 remaining.

The Bulls were able to cut into the deficit, getting within 14 after a Boozer dunk, but Philadelphia took a 53-37 lead into the intermission.

Chicago began chipping away at its deficit in the third and closed the quarter with six straight. Kyle Korver beat the buzzer with an off-balanced base-line jumper to get the Bulls within 69-64 at the end of three.

Noah's layup drew the hosts within four nearly 3 1/2 minutes into the fourth, but Philadelphia got two free throws from Iguodala and jumper by Brand to go up by eight, 78-70.

Rose drained a pair of free throws to pull his club within six, 82-76, with 4:29 to play, but the Sixers would pull away a short time later.

Game Notes

Despite the loss, Chicago is still an impressive 32-5 at home this season...Philadelphia improved to 15-24 on the road...Rose added five assists to his ledger, but committed 10 turnovers...Jrue Holiday ended with 12 points and six assists, while Lou Williams provided 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists off the bench for Philadelphia.
