Mavs resume road trip in Oakland vs. Warriors

Apr 2, 2011 - 2:42 PM (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks had enough time to erase the memories of their blowout loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and will resume a six-game road trip this evening against the Golden State Warriors.

Dallas had a chance to make ground on the two-time defending champion Lakers, but dropped a 110-82 decision in Hollywood on Thursday night. Dirk Nowitzki proved his worth of an MVP nod with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Peja Stojakovic netted 13 points in a reserve role.

J.J. Barea provided 10 points off the bench for the Mavericks, who had a five- game winning streak stopped and fell to 3-1 on the road swing. Mavs guard Jason Terry and Lakers guard Steve Blake got into a heated exchange, leading to a few other players getting involved.

"It was a competitive game and things got chippy," Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle said. "It was a tough night offensively."

The Mavericks are two games behind the Lakers for the second spot in the Western Conference and 3 1/2 games in back of San Antonio in the Southwest Division standings. They will also visit Portland on the trek and own a 27-11 mark away from Big D this season.

In injury news for Dallas, forward Corey Brewer (knee) is questionable for tonight's game in Oakland.

Golden State is playing out the string and has lost two straight and eight of 10 games, including Wednesday's 110-91 loss at Memphis.

Dorell Wright and Monta Ellis had 16 points apiece and David Lee added 12 and nine rebounds for the Warriors, who have dropped eight in a row on the road.

"They capitalized on the mistakes we made," said Ellis, who is questionable for Saturday's game with a high right ankle sprain. "They made plays."

The Warriors are back at home where they own a 23-14 mark this season.

Dallas is aiming to sweep a season series from Golden State for the first time since winning all four meetings in the 2002-03 campaign. The Mavericks have won six straight and 11 of the past 14 matchups between the teams.

The Mavs are unbeaten in three straight trips to the Bay Area.
