Pistons and Wizards meet in DC
Apr 5, 2011 - 2:55 PM (Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons shoot for their ninth straight win over the Washington Wizards tonight at the Verizon Center. The Pistons have won eight in a row, 10 of 11 and 23 of the past 30 matchups with the Wizards, and are aiming for their second straight season sweep of Washington, losers in three straight as the host in this series.
Detroit has dropped three in am row and six of seven games overall, including Sunday's 101-90 loss at Boston. Will Bynum led the way with 20 points, while Tayshaun Prince and Charlie Villanueva provided 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Pistons.
"It's a game of spurts and they're a veteran team that understands how to finish games," Pistons head coach John Kuester said of Boston.
Richard Hamilton was credited with 14 points in defeat. In injury news for Detroit, which is 7-31 as the guest and winless in 10 consecutive road tilts, guard Rodney Stuckey (disciplinary) is questionable and center Ben Wallace (knee) is listed as doubtful for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Wizards will try to keep playing solid basketball and have won two straight and three of their last four games.
In a 97-91 triumph over the playoff-hopeful Charlotte Bobcats, Andray Blatche muscled his way to 25 points and 17 rebounds. Jordan Crawford added 23 points and rookie John Wall returned from a one-game suspension to post 18 points, five rebounds and five assists for Washington.
"We refused to lose. We're starting to get the mentality where we think we can," Crawford told NBA.com. "When you think you can win then you can pull it off. It was big for us. I hope we can keep it up. We stuck it out and got the win."
Wizards guard Nick Young is doubtful for tonight with a left knee bruise and has missed four straight and nine of 11 games. Young leads the Wizards with a career-best 17.4 ppg.
Blatche is averaging 25.0 points and 14.7 rebounds in his last three games since returning from a 10-game absence due to a shoulder injury. Crawford is posting 27.0 points, 5.8 boards and 5.0 assists in his last four contests.
