Bucks host Cavs in Brew City
Apr 9, 2011 - 2:51 PM (Sports Network) - Inconsistency is what cost the Milwaukee Bucks a chance at competing in the playoffs. With three games remaining on the schedule, the Bucks will try to end it on a positive note in the opener of a two-game homestand tonight versus the Central Division-rival Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bucks are also slated to host Toronto before closing out the 2010-11 campaign next week in Oklahoma City. They have alternated wins and losses over the previous seven games and dropped a 110-100 decision Friday night on the road against the Detroit Pistons, another division foe.
Brandon Jennings had a game-high 31 points, while Ersan Ilyasova registered 18 for Milwaukee, which received 12 points from Drew Gooden.
"They ran the floor well tonight," Jennings said of the Pistons. "They got a lot of buckets in transition and that's kind of how they got the lead and was able to come out with the victory."
Milwaukee announced on Friday that center Andrew Bogut will miss the remainder of the season due to right elbow pain. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue and loose particles.
The Bucks are 20-19 in Brew City this season.
Meanwhile, Cleveland had a two-game winning streak stopped with last night's 93-82 home loss versus the Chicago Bulls, who clinched the top seed in the East with the victory despite getting just 11 points from MVP candidate Derrick Rose. Carlos Boozer muscled his way past the Cavaliers for 24 points and 11 boards.
J.J. Hickson led the Cavs with 22 points and 15 rebounds and Daniel Gibson posted 14 points off the bench in defeat. Ramon Sessions scored 13 in a reserve role for Cleveland.
"We did not execute real well. In the first half we executed pretty good, but we just really hurt ourselves with our turnovers (and) we hurt ourselves with defensive rebounding," Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "n the second half, I thought we did more standing around."
The Cavs will also visit Detroit on the short trek and are only 6-33 away from the Forest City this season. They will host Washington in the season finale next week.
Cleveland has lost two of three matchups with Milwaukee this season, but is still 8-3 in the past 11 contests in this series.
