Kings hold off Warriors

Apr 11, 2011 - 5:57 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Marcus Thornton scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Sacramento Kings held off the Golden State Warriors, 104-103, at ORACLE Arena.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 15 with 13 rebounds and five assists before fouling out. Tyreke Evans, Beno Udrih and Jason Thompson each scored 14 for Sacramento, which snapped a two-game skid.

Stephen Curry paced the Warriors with a game-high 27 points and eight assists. David Lee posted 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Dorell Wright added 19 points and six steals in the loss, which snapped a three-game winning streak for Golden State.

A scary incident involving Warriors guard Monta Ellis occurred in the fourth quarter. He hit his head after driving to the basket and colliding with Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins, and was disoriented as he got up.

"He said he was fine. Then he went to get up; you could just tell by the look in his eyes he had no idea where he was at," Lee said. "It was a scary moment ... He was trying to walk to the free throw line to shoot free throws but kind of walked towards the fans for a second. I said, 'Come on trainer, come get him.'"

The Warriors said on their Twitter feed that Ellis would be taken to a local hospital for further examination, and won't travel with the team for Monday's game in Denver.

Trailing by one at the half, the Warriors took control in the third, when Curry scored 11 of his points on 4-of-6 from the field. Golden State took a lead with a Curry three-pointer just under four minutes in, and widened it to eight with a Wright dunk in the final minutes. Udrih's jumper cut the Warriors' margin to 83-77 entering the final stanza.

The Golden State lead remained around eight for the opening minutes of the fourth, but a pair of Cousins free throws with 9:17 remaining started an 11-0 run that gave the Kings the lead.

Thornton capped the spurt with 1-of-2 from the line with 6 1/2 minutes remaining, making it a 92-89 game.

After buckets from Curry and Jeremy Lin put Golden State back in front, Evans drilled a three-pointer and Thornton was good on a driving layup to put Sacramento ahead for good.

Golden State stayed close, but faced a 104-100 deficit after Thornton sank a jumper with 12.6 seconds left.

The Warriors called a timeout to attempt a comeback, but Vladimir Radmanovic and Wright missed three-point tries. Curry then hit one, but with only 1.8 seconds left.

Sacramento held a 30-26 lead after the opening 12 minutes, and the Warriors responded in the second, getting within 60-59 at the half.

Donte Green scored 10 in a reserve role for Sacramento...Ekpe Udoh scored 10 for the Warriors, who will close out their season with a visit to the Nuggets before hosting the Trail Blazers...The Kings will end their season by hosting the Lakers and Thunder, who are both vying for the Western Conference's No. 2 seed.
