Bucks come alive late to drop Raptors

Apr 12, 2011 - 6:15 AM Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - John Salmons led the way with 24 points and seven rebounds, as the Milwaukee Bucks used a big fourth quarter to earn a 93-86 win over the Toronto Raptors at the Bradley Center.

Brandon Jennings ended with 21 points and six boards, while Drew Gooden contributed 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Bucks, who have won two straight and three of four. Milwaukee will close out its 2010-11 season on Wednesday at Oklahoma City.

"(We played) real good, second half was really good." Jennings said. "We came out with a blast in the second half."

Jerryd Bayless had a team-best 20 points and DeMar DeRozan netted 17 for Toronto, which has dropped 10 of its last 12. The Raptors will end their season on Wednesday against Miami.

Ed Davis had a solid game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Joey Dorsey went for a career-high 20 boards to go with 10 points in defeat.

"As the game went along (the Bucks) just wore us down," Raptors coach Jay Triano said. "We had some pretty good looks, we just turned it over. Guys were trying to get in the lane but (Milwaukee) did a better job of shutting it down in the second half."

With Toronto up by six, 77-71, three minutes into the fourth, the Bucks scored 15 straight to seize control of the game. Salmons got things started with a jumper, then a short time later, two layups and a breakaway dunk by Jennings put Milwaukee up 81-77 with 5:31 to play. Salmons' free throw finished off the run to make it an eight-point game with 3:18 left.

The Raptors battled back to get within two with 1:33 remaining, but Gooden made a hook shot, then converted a three-point play to put the Bucks ahead 91-84, and they held on for the win.

Davis scored nine points in the opening quarter to help the Raptors grab a 33-25 lead after 12 minutes, and they held the lead throughout the second quarter.

The Bucks trailed by as many as 11, but were able to chip away at the deficit and get within 51-46 at the break.

Julian Wright's free throw with 2:28 left in the third put the Raptors ahead by six, but Milwaukee scored five of the final six points in the quarter to make it a 71-69 game after three.

Game Notes

Toronto was without guards Leandro Barbosa (finger), Jose Calderon (hamstring) Sonny Weems (knee) and center Andrea Bargnani (ankle)...Milwaukee went 22-19 at home this season, while the Raptors finished 6-35 on the road.
