Rose, Bulls top Knicks at MSG

Apr 13, 2011 - 6:08 AM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Derrick Rose had 26 points as Chicago continued its quest for the best record in the NBA with a 103-90 win over the New York Knicks.

Chicago and San Antonio both have identical records of 61-20 and it will come down to Wednesday's final games. The Bulls will cap their season against the Nets while San Antonio will visit the Suns

"It's not done yet," Rose said. "We still have one game left. We still have to stay focused and not look ahead of ourselves."

Luol Deng totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds, Carlos Boozer added 14 points and 22 rebounds while Joakim Noah added 13 points for the Bulls, who have won eight straight.

Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points while Bill Walker added 18 points for the Knicks, who had won seven straight coming into the game.

The Knicks are locked into the sixth seed and will play the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. Coincidentally, New York closes out its regular season in Boston on Wednesday.

"It's kind of funny we have to play them in the last game and then come right back and play them again," Knicks guard Toney Douglas said about playing Boston on Wednesday. "I'm pretty sure we have to approach that game like we approach every game."

The Knicks led by as many as seven points in the first quarter, but the Bulls cut into their deficit and trailed by three, 27-24, heading into the second.

Douglas' jumper just over four minutes into the second gave New York a 40-31 lead, but Chicago countered with an 11-1 run to go back on top.

The Knicks, though, scored the final five points of the first half to take a 55-52 lead into the break.

Chicago scored the first nine points of the second half to take a lead it never relinquished and held a 61-55 advantage off a Rose free throw two minutes in.

The lead ballooned to 21 points as Noah's two from the line with five minutes left in the third made it a 78-57 game and the Bulls took an 84-73 advantage into the fourth.

A Shawne Williams jumper four minutes into the final quarter made it a 91-84 game, but Rose responded with a three-ball and Taj Gibson added a layup with 6 1/2 minutes to play for a 96-84 lead.

New York never cut its deficit to single-digits the rest of the way.

The Bulls went 26-15 on the road and won their final seven games as the guest...The Knicks went 23-18 at home this season...Chicago had 51 rebounds compared to 33 for New York.
