Grizzlies visit Clippers at Staples Center

Apr 13, 2011 - 3:18 PM (Sports Network) - The playoff-bound Memphis Grizzlies close out their regular season tonight in Hollywood by taking on presumptive Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Grizzlies had a chance to improve on their seeding last night in Portland but coach Lionel Hollins didn't seem all that concerned with that and rested star forward Zach Randolph in a 102-89 loss in Portland.

Mike Conley paced the Grizzlies, who were also without swingman Tony Allen, with 17 points, while O.J. Mayo and Sam Young both scored 13.

"We were playing with some guys down," Mayo said. "We were allowing (Randolph) to get some rest, we were just a few guys short."

The Grizzlies currently hold the eighth and final seed in the Western Conference but are tied with New Orleans, which holds the tiebreaker. The Hornets finish their regular season at Dallas on Wednesday.

Both Randolph and Allen, who has swelling in his left knee and ankle, will likely be held out again tonight.

"I didn't want to play Zach these last two games because I want to get him rested and fresh," Hollins said. "He hurt his elbow and he has the bad knee and I just didn't want to have him out there banging for two more games when we have the playoffs going."

The Clippers, meanwhile, will be trying to snap a three-game skid tonight and end their season on a high-note.

Most recently, Brad Miller made four three-pointers en route to 16 points off the Houston bench as the Rockets topped the Clippers, 99-78, at Toyota Center on Saturday.

Griffin paced the Clippers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Gordon scored a game-high 19 and DeAndre Jordan posted eight points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss for the Clippers.

"We just couldn't put the ball in the basket," LA coach Vinny Del Negro said. "Blake (Griffin) was dead as were some of our other guys. Houston got a lot of rebounds and we kept missing shots. We didn't pressure Houston like we should have."

Los Angeles played without guard Eric Bledsoe, who was serving a one-game team suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Memphis has won four of the past six meetings between the two clubs, including two of three this season. These two teams have split the last 14 matchups at the Clippers.
