Warriors start long homestand with Orlando in town

Mar 18, 2014 - 2:03 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors will close out the month of March with five straight games at home, starting with Tuesday's matchup with the Orlando Magic.

The Warriors will also welcome Milwaukee, San Antonio, Memphis and New York to Oracle Arena, where they have a 21-11 record this season.

Golden State, which lost its last game as the host Friday versus Cleveland, bounced back with Sunday's 113-112 victory at Portland on Klay Thompson's go- ahead 3-pointer with 11.9 seconds remaining. Thompson missed the Cavaliers game due to the death of his grandfather and finished with 27 points.

Stephen Curry made 6-of-12 3-pointers and scored 28 of his 37 points in the second half, while David Lee netted 16 for Golden State, which rallied from 18 points down and recorded its 15th win in the last 21 road games.

"It would have been easy to fold the tent and hang our heads," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said. "It was a great win for us."

The Warriors are 11-4 since the All-Star break and have won six of eight overall. They are sixth in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games behind Portland and one game ahead of Dallas.

In injury news for the Warriors, center Andrew Bogut is probable with a sprained left ankle and had six points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks in the last game.

The Magic may be without their big man as well because Nikola Vucevic is listed as questionable Tuesday with a sprained left ankle. He is posting 14.1 points and 11.1 rebounds a game.

Orlando is scheduled to play four straight away from home, including stops in Phoenix, Utah and Los Angeles (Lakers). It has lost five in a row and 11 of the past 14 games, including Friday's 105-101 overtime loss to Washington.

Wizards All-Star guard John Wall buried a game-tying 3-pointer with 10.6 seconds left in regulation and scored 21 points with 11 assists. Magic rookie Victor Oladipo's 3-point attempt was off the mark.

Tobias Harris led the Magic with 21 points off the bench, while Arron Afflalo added 18 points in the loss. Oladipo scored 15 points for Orlando, which shot 44 percent for the game and gave up 19 points on 14 turnovers. The Magic are 1-5 in overtime games this season.

"There are two things, you either win or you lose," Harris said. "Tonight we lost. It was a good effort, but at the end of the day when you look at our schedule and the calendar you see an 'L' next to Orlando Magic versus the Washington Wizards. The next game we have to improve. We take what we can from the game and we learn from it."

The Magic will have to learn on the road and are winless in the last three games as the visitor. They have struggled mightily on the road this season as evidenced by a 4-30 record.

Orlando dropped a 94-81 home loss to Golden State on Dec. 31, as Lee led the Warriors with 22 points. Afflalo had 16 points in that one to pace the Magic, who had won the previous three meetings between the teams. The Magic are 6-1 in their last seven visits to Oakland.
