Warriors welcome Bucks to Oracle Arena

Mar 20, 2014 - 2:21 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors opened their homestand with a win and will try to keep playing solid basketball Thursday night when they welcome the Milwaukee Bucks to Oracle Arena.

The Warriors have won two straight and seven of their last nine. They are sixth in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for fifth and two ahead of both the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies, who share seventh.

Golden State began a five-game residency with a 103-89 victory over the Orlando Magic Tuesday night.

Stephen Curry had 23 points for the Warriors. David Lee tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Klay Thompson also poured in 20 points for the Warriors, who played without Andre Iguodala and will again on Thursday because of right knee tendonitis.

Marreese Speights (13) and Steve Blake (12) scored double figures off the bench.

"We handled our business, we competed. I thought we were very unselfish," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said.

The Warriors will host the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks on this current homestand.

The Bucks have dropped five in a row and eight of their last nine en route to the worst record in the NBA. Thursday night's tilt is the second of a four- game western swing which will send them to Sacramento and Los Angeles to face the Lakers.

Milwaukee fought valiantly in a 120-115 overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

Brandon Knight poured in a team-high 24 points, Ramon Sessions scored 23 points and Khris Middleton finished with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Bucks.

Zaza Pachulia had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Ersan Ilyasova managed 12 in the loss.

Sessions missed two free-throws that could have iced the game for the Bucks in regulation.

"He missed them, but we had other opportunities to win that game. There were other plays that could have put us in position to win the game," said Bucks coach Larry Drew. "The guys played really hard for four quarters. I told them I was very proud of their effort, I just wanted them to know."

The Warriors beat the Bucks, who have dropped six straight on the road, in Milwaukee earlier this season, but the Bucks have taken two in a row at Oracle Arena.
