Final
Monroe, Pistons edge Bucks
Apr 1, 2014 - 5:58 AMVideo
Monroe poured in a game-high 28 points to go with 14 rebounds, Jennings scored 20 points and dished out 13 assists and Drummond chipped in with 10 points and 16 boards for the Pistons, who snapped a three-game skid.
Josh Smith added 26 points for Detroit.
Brandon Knight had 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and Ramon Sessions scored 20 points to go with 11 assists for the Bucks, losers in 10 of their last 11 games.
"We just stopped doing the things that we did for three-and-a-half quarters," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said. "We took some tough shots. We rushed a lot of quick shots around the basket and missed a lot of easy ones."
Monday's game pitted Jennings and Knight against their former teams. Jennings, who was selected by Milwaukee with the 10th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, spent his first four seasons with the Bucks. The Pistons took Knight with the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He signed with the Bucks this past offseason.
The Bucks led 92-85 with 8:53 remaining, but a Jennings three just over a minute later had the Pistons within two, 92-90. Milwaukee pushed its lead back to six, 98-92, following a Henson tip-in, but the Pistons rallied for a 12-0 run and never looked back. Smith scored eight points on the run, including a three-point play after he was fouled throwing down a dunk with 3:53 left.
Milwaukee never got closer than four the rest of the way.
"We were just talking about keep getting stops, keep chipping away, keep communicating with each other and sharing the basketball. That's what we did," said Smith.
Detroit led 34-30 after 12 minutes, but finished just 8-of-24 from the field in the second to go into the break trailing 61-52. The Bucks led by as many as 11, 65-54, early in the third, but the Pistons managed to make it a one- point game, 82-81, entering the final frame.
