76ers pay a visit to Celtics

Apr 4, 2014 - 2:33 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia 76ers will visit the site of their last road victory Friday night when they head to TD Bank Garden to face the Boston Celtics.

The Sixers' last win away from the Wells Fargo Center came Jan. 29 in Beantown when Evan Turner made a buzzer-beater to give Philly a 95-94 win. Turner is now a member of the Indiana Pacers and the 76ers have lost 13 in a row as the visitor since that fateful night in Boston.

Philadelphia has only won once since that win in January. Their 25-point win at home on Saturday versus the Detroit Pistons halted a 26-game losing streak, which matched the NBA record for most consecutive losses.

Since that inspirational win over the Pistons, the Sixers have dropped two straight, a road loss to the Atlanta Hawks and a home drubbing at the hands of the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

Charlotte prevailed, 123-93, and shot over 50 percent from the field and over 50 percent from long range.

"I respect the route that program has taken to end up where it is," Sixers coach Brett Brown said of the Bobcats. "It was a good example for our guys. That is a team that is going to the playoffs. That is a team that competes and executes."

Michael Carter-Williams had 22 points seven rebounds and Henry Sims added 15 points and six boards for the Sixers. Elliot Williams finished with 12 and Thaddeus Young chipped in 11 points.

The Celtics have dropped six straight, including two in a row at home.

On Wednesday, the Celtics fell in Washington to the Wizards, 118-92. The victory clinched a playoff spot for the Wizards, their first since the 2007-08 season.

"I don't want to take anything away from [the Wizards] because it's a big night for them, clinching the playoffs and I thought they played great. But we didn't provide any fight tonight," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.

Boston shot under 40 percent from the floor, but allowed the Wizards to shoot 62.5 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Washington dominated the glass, winning the rebounding battle, 41-29.

Coming off the bench, Jared Sullinger scored a game-high 25 points and Kelly Olynyk added 14 points for Boston, which has lost 11 of 12. Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green totaled 13 points apiece, with Rondo adding seven rebounds and six assists.

Avery Bradley missed the Washington game with a right Achilles injury and is listed as day-to-day.

The two teams split two matchups this season with the road team getting the win each time. The Sixers have won two of their last three visits to Boston.

The two Atlantic Division rivals will meet in Philadelphia on April 14.
